Andries van Tonder plays a significant role within BOSASA IFM and the BOSASA Group as the Chief Financial Officer. He provides specialised and integral insight into the world of economics and Information Technology (IT). By combining financial expertise with the latest software applications, he’s created a platform for specialising in the management of removing risk. Having previously graduated with a B.Com Honours in Accounting and Financial Management, he wishes to further his skills and is currently studying towards Honours in Macro Commerce and Economics.

His career started at Meritum where he was a humble and dedicated employee performing meagre and mundane tasks. It was only after two years of changing light bulbs, replenishing drinks and operating a switchboard that an opportunity opened up for Andries. He changed employers by joining Dyambu and has only progressed and flourished since. At first he was a simple clerk who manually revised cashbooks, as well as creditor and debtor records. It was at this time that he gained valuable skills in accounting and learned the importance of sound financial strategies. As a result, the world of progressive business became of interest to Andries and through the influence of Gavin Watson, he was offered the opportunity to become part of it.

Andries has successfully modelled the financial systems for eighty companies within the BOSASA Group, and has a total of over 20 years of experience in the field. His value to the company lies in his ability to evaluate global research and trends in order to forecast performance. He’s gone further and has founded a world first in software-specific applications - integrated knowledge management systems. Under the sphere of the TrustMASTER programme these innovative operations are the Kitchen Administration System (KAS) and advanced water and farming software modules for aquaculture environments.

The former being an application which provides daily information on industrial kitchen activities, as well as total control of:
  • Proactive Checks
  • Daily Reports
  • Cash-flow Analysis
  • Food Costs
  • Daily Stock
  • Financial Control
  • Information Regarding Irregularities within Management and Correction

As for his second development, this is a complete and detailed aquaculture management system. Pertaining to the farming of water animals and plants, it’s been designed and purpose built with the intention of decreasing the hazards faced with traditional aquaculture ventures. Andries’ proficiency in identifying trends associated with such important sustainability issues, is one of his many strengths and is highly regarded within BOSASA IFM.

It is as a result of Andries’ expertise and experience that the likes of global information technology giants, such as Microsoft have expressed interest in his developments. He’s also earned himself a niche within the scientific community for his pre-emptive contributions to the collection of data, and his flawless analysis.

As Chief Financial Officer, Andries van Tonder recognises that the uncertainties of the future are becoming increasingly turbulent and evermore difficult to predict. However, he’s prepared and excited by the challenges that the group will face and continuously aims to develop new and innovative business approaches. It is relentless dedication to creating a complete and working system, designed from end to beginning going through every process, step and protocol that defines his success.
