Dietetics & Nutrition

Image of Youth Centre menuAt BOSASA IFM, we believe that no professional kitchen is complete without the addition of dietetics, which essentially is 'the art and science of human nutrition'. This is why the BOSASA catering division has focused on a wide range of ancillary services related to the provision of food. Additionally, the principles of feeding people and good eating habits are fully embraced in all of our menu preparation environments.

At BOSASA IFM, we understand that eating the right foodstuffs in a nutritionally balanced diet will keep a person in sound mind and body every day. This also enables you to give of your best in your working environment, which is why we train highly skilled chefs to produce healthy meals at our own head offices at the Mogale Business Park Diner. These professionals know how scientifically proven nutrition solutions contribute to peak performance at the office. We’re capable of providing these services to clients looking for streamlined and properly designed solutions.

Our full dietetics service covers many fields, including:

Addressing special dietary needs  for all types of medical conditions such as diabetes and HIV/Aids
Taking people's religious beliefs into consideration and preparing halaal or kosher menus, or meat or fish-free food when necessary
Compiling interesting and tasty meals with a balanced nutrition content
Designing multiple meal options so that menus are rotated to avoid fatigue
Creating menus that cater for up to 10 000 people in one sitting

Dietetics Services in Action

Working with the South African Department of Correctional Services is one of our flagship projects at BOSASA IFM. We not only feed the offenders with balanced, healthy meals; we also create job opportunities for prisoners approaching parole. As part of our on-going drive to give back to the community, our catering division is proud to train offenders to become world-class chefs and cooks. Part of this process means that these offenders are made aware of the importance of dietetics within their training programmes. Upon their integration back into society, they are sought out for positions in professional kitchens.

In addition to this programme, our highly skilled, specially trained food experts supervise our catering department. Here our main aim is to get the anticipation of nutritional needs down to a fine art in order to supply our clients with excellent food and meals. By combining dietetics with help from the World Health Organisation's statistical reporting department, we have become experts in putting together a wholesome balanced diet – especially in high-density environments such as hospitals, correctional centres and mines.
