Information & Knowledge Management

information and knowledge managementBOSASA IFM, through the diversity of our companies, has gained a clear understanding of the importance of information and knowledge management solutions. With experience in developing both hardware and information management software we can efficiently assist our clients with their needs. We understand the kind of information architecture that is required for a large company to run effectively. BOSASA IFM has therefore set up our IT division to function as a support service, sharing knowledge and experience, not only internally but also with our external clients.

Furthermore, BOSASA IFM has structured our information and knowledge management in such a way that we can constantly assess and adjust the kinds of services and applications our IT division offers. This results in an entity that's constantly evolving, growing both the companies in the BOSASA Group and offering new and innovative products to all our clients. BOSASA IFM believes in leading by example, which doesn't only apply to being compliant with regulations, but also being at the forefront of technology and information management.

A Clear Understanding of Information and Knowledge Management Services

At BOSASA IFM it's the role of our Information Technology division to manage and create our information management design and knowledge management services. This department consists of highly skilled, innovative and passionate individuals who develop the support systems for the whole group. They're also responsible for the systems that we offer to over 400 clients. Every person from the engineers, to the technicians plays a vital role. Because of the fundamental importance of the IT division, it’s crucial to have a clear understanding of both information and knowledge management.

Information management design can be broken down into the following categories:
Enterprise Content Management – This refers to a formalised system of storing a company's documents and relevant information.

Electronic Records Management – This aspect of information management deals with keeping records of the creation, maintenance and use of all documents and information, related to the company’s activities.
Business Process Management – The holistic approach of aligning all aspects of a company to its internal and external client’s needs is integral to any business. This promotes effective, efficient service, and drives innovation.

Email Management – As most of our daily business communications are dealt with via email - it’s become fundamentally important to record and manage this resource.
Information Organisation and Access Controls – Cataloguing, securing and monitoring the access to a company's information is a consideration on its own.
Web Content Management – Here we refer to either bundled or stand-alone applications used to create, manage, store and deploy content on the web.
Technology Solutions and Best Practices – This is the constant innovation and creation of new software and hardware to better manage information, as well as the understanding of regulations and accepted practices in the industry.
Knowledge management services can be broken down into 4 basic steps:
The Gathering of Knowledge – Refers to the collection and entry of data and documents. Information that is gathered from both internal and external sources and general information searches and capturing.
The Organisation of Knowledge – This refers to the cataloguing, indexing, filtering and linking of information both stored and new.
The Defining of Knowledge – The process of contextualising, collaborating, compacting and protecting knowledge and information, in order for it to be mined in the future.
The Dissemination of Knowledge – This refers to the sharing of knowledge both internally and externally.

The BOSASA Group understands the value of information and knowledge management services, not only as an internal necessity but as a driving force behind our country's business development. Due to this we're always working towards not only improving our own systems but also those of our clients.
