Jackie Leyds

Image of Jackie LeydsJackie Leyds has played a valuable role in BOSASA for over 14 years. In this time she’s created a niche role for herself through her experience and work with child offenders.

Jackie completed her primary studies in the field of Social Science with an Honours Degree in Human Resource Development. She also completed a Masters Degree in Social Development, focusing on the effects of Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) on employees. Furthermore, she’s currently completing her doctorate in “Risk and resilience of adolescents” through the University of Johannesburg.

All of Jackie's training and experience have made her a true asset to BOSASA. She has also used her ability to apply comprehensive theoretical and experiential knowledge to a global research model. This has given BOSASA a comparative benchmark on which to base our youth development centres. Jackie successfully filters her knowledge and experience into the holistic care programmes that are offered by BOSASA.

Jackie Leyds, Leading through Experience and Knowledge

Jackie believes in a holistic approach. This philosophy manifests itself in her design of information management systems. Using her expertise and combining the requirements of legislation, policies, strategy, procedure and theory into practise, she has created an information management system for BOSASA, which has placed us at the cutting edge of technology.

Jackie's devotion to her career can not only be seen through her qualifications but also in her work with numerous institutes and programmes:
The Watson Corporate Academy (WCA) - Jackie actively works with the institute in designing and implementing models for staff development and training.

The Golden Key International Honour Society – Jackie is an active member of this organisation which honours students for academic achievement at university level.

The APPETD (Association of Private Providers in Education and Training) – Jackie Leyds received the Quality Assurance Award in 2008. Recognising the achievements of individuals working in private provider organisations for their performance and promotion of quality service.

The International Institute of Restorative Practices (IIRP) in Canada – This institute has accredited Jackie as a Real Justice Conference Facilitator Trainer.

The Matrix Institute of Addictions in the USA – Through Jackie's work with this organisation, BOSASA is now able to offer their addiction rehabilitation programmes to the young offenders in our care.

Education and Training Development Practitioner – Jackie is also a qualified and registered assessor with the ETDP as well as with the SACSSP (South African Council of Social Service Professions).

Jackie plays a pivotal role in establishing the holistic development and therapeutic programmes for BOSASA Youth Centres as well as building and promoting our brand both locally and internationally. Through Jackie's work and dedication, we at BOSASA know that we’re offering the youth in our centres the best possible care and foundation for their future.
