Procurement & Supply Chain Solutions

BOSASA IFM has, over the years, worked to turn our procurement and supply chain management systems (SCM) into a finely tuned machine, operating across our complex network of companies. We place a great deal of importance on being BBBEE compliant and maintaining our empowerment status, while ensuring service excellence across the board.

Our procurement and supply chain staff are trained to source the best BEE companies and products. To achieve this we place a strong emphasis on utilising and encouraging members from the communities we operate in, by purchasing goods and services from local and SMME businesses whenever possible. We’re then able to pass these benefits onto our clients supplying them with a procurement and SCM solution that will result in a better BBBEE rating for all.

BOSASA IFM is committed to finding the most suitable way of achieving the highest standards of procurement and supply chain management, in line with our company's empowerment mandate.   We have a well established understanding of procurement solutions and software, as well as outsourcing and procurement companies and providers. Based on this knowledge and experience we can offer our clients the highest quality of procurement and supply chain services. Furthermore, the benefits of our considerable national buying power can also be passed on to our clients through our access to group discounts.

Procurement Solutions and Supply Chain Management Solutions

BOSASA IFM's staff members are trained to apply Just-In-Time (JIT) processes. This philosophy was first developed in Japan and is based on three main principles:
  • The Reduction of Manufacturing and Administrative Cycle Times – This represents the difference between the client’s demand or need and the final delivery of a product or service. The turnaround in manufacturing time is based on the efficient management of machinery, transportation, inspections and warehousing. Administrative cycles are less visible but are equally important, and include processes like query entries, purchase orders, procurement management and following up on payments and credit notes.
  • Waste Reduction Waste comprises any operations that do not add value to products, services or processes. This waste can be broken down into seven main causes. These include over-production, queues or waiting times, transport issues, general operational processes, useless movements of products, staff or services, lack of quality controls and unmanaged inventory.
  • Flow Break-Downs This aspect of the Just-In-Time philosophy aims to identify and rectify where and why the flow of production or productivity is being disrupted. Disruptions are caused by, waiting times, caused by internal or external mismanagement, missing parts, mechanical failures, absenteeism, correcting errors and waiting on decisions from either internal or external stakeholders.

  • By utilising this process, our procurement staff minimises waste and ensures that BOSASA IFM, and our subsidiaries, can run at optimal pace. Our purchasing department also makes use of our world-class management systems and procurement software in conjunction with Microsoft's Great Plains offering. This allows us to get minute-by-minute updates minimising risk and errors.

BOSASA IFM's supply chain services and management division play an integral role in the collaboration between our partners, clients and suppliers. Through this departments focus on transparency and inventory visibility, they have gained the trust of our stakeholders. BOSASA IFM's SCM team consists of highly skilled individuals who place great emphasis on the ability to create both long and short-term strategic solutions. In turn, our clients reap the rewards of their knowledge and training, as well as the relationships they have built up with suppliers over the years.
